Librarian/Photographer Volunteer Wanted for the Sarasota Water Atlas

If you would like to share information about water in our community, this volunteer opportunity may be right for you. The Sarasota Water Atlas is looking for people who are interested in providing documents and photographs to the Atlas website. Documents about any number of water-related topics would be scanned or converted to a suitable format (Adobe pdf) then added to the website through a simple form. A photographer would use a digital camera to capture images of our beautiful bays, creeks, and ponds and share them on the website (with credit given to the photographer of course). The Water Atlas already contains over 600 documents and over 1100 photographs, but the public wants more information about such things as red tide, the Gulf of Mexico, Warm Mineral Springs, Myakka River and Lakes, manatees, sea turtles, and more. For more information call John Ryan of Sarasota County Water Resources at 861-6213 or jryan@scgov.net.
