Warm Mineral Springs Added to Neighborhood Parkland Program

The Warm Mineral Springs property (81 acres) closed on December 20, 2010. The County and the City of North Port jointly acquired the spring-fed pool, associated structures and surrounding acreage as part of the Neighborhood Parkland program. The property is located 3.3 miles northeast of the intersection of Tamiami Trail/ U.S. 41 and River Road and 0.65 miles south of the Deer Prairie Creek Preserve. Acquiring Warm Mineral Springs will protect archeological, geological, cultural and ecological features. The spring waters also warm downstream habitat for the West Indian manatee.
