Description of Datasource: Beach water samples are collected by the Sarasota County Health Department every two weeks at 14 different beach sites in Sarasota County. They are analyzed for enterococci and fecal coliform bacteria. High concentrations of these bacteria may indicate the presence of microorganisms that could cause disease, infections, or rashes. Health advisories or warnings are issued if these conditions are confirmed. Latest beach advisories are accessible via Healthy Beaches website (http://apps3.doh.state.fl.us/env/beach/beachresults.cfm?county=Sarasota). Raw data are accessible via STORET.
