Sarasota County needs volunteers for its winter seagrass survey

Sarasota County needs volunteers for its winter seagrass survey, which runs through the month of February 2009. Volunteers will gather descriptions of local seagrass beds from different locations throughout Sarasota’s bays. Seagrass is vital to maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems, improving water quality, stabilizing shorelines and providing food and cover for a variety of wildlife. Training: Join us for hands-on training in the water. Bring swimwear and water shoes. A swim mask, wetsuit or waders are optional.
