Sharky's owner may soon take over Snook Haven

The owner of Sharky's on the Pier restaurant in Venice may soon take over operations of Snook Haven, the iconic Myakka River fish camp that Sarasota County has converted to a park.

Venice Pier Group, headed by Mike Pachota, has submitted the winning proposal to manage Snook Haven's restaurant, live music, gift shop, boat tours and rentals.

County staff and Pachota still have to work out a contract, and the county commission has to approve it, but Parks Manager Carolyn Brown says she anticipates no problems.
