Sarasota County commissioners express doubts about Dona Bay project

SARASOTA COUNTY – An expensive and ambitious plan to clean up Dona Bay and create a lasting regional water supply has sputtered, with one commissioner saying Tuesday he has “lost faith” in the project.

County officials said Tuesday they are intent on saving the project, but some commissioners seemed annoyed, saying communication from staff regarding the plan has been poor. About $6.5 million has already been spent by the county on outside consultants and land acquisition.
