New tech kits ready for teacher loan, thanks to EdExplore Next grant

SARASOTA – The Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP), Around the Bend Nature Tours and Sarasota County Parks & Recreation have collaborated to produce unique "tech kits" for high school and middle school teachers. Each kit is a suitcase that contains activities and related materials focused on four themes; Scrub Diversity, Orienteering, Estuary Exploration, and Low Impact Development.

The kits will be available for loan for two-week periods beginning in the fall through the EdExploreSRQ.com website. Local artists contributing to the kit include Phil Chioccio who produced seven videos and Brenda Smoak who created artistic depictions of habitats. The tech kits were created through an EdExplore Next Grant supported by the Sarasota Arts & Cultural Alliance and the Patterson Foundation.
