Keep Sarasota County Beautiful accepting volunteer award nominations
SARASOTA COUNTY – Keep Sarasota County Beautiful is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Volunteer Awards, which will be announced at its annual recognition dinner in November. This program recognizes individuals and groups who have made a visible difference and significant contribution toward anti-littering and beautification activities throughout Sarasota County.
Nominations for volunteer awards are due Friday, Oct. 4, by 5 p.m. Nomination forms may be obtained from www.scgov.net/kscb or by calling 941-861-5000 and asking for the Keep Sarasota County Beautiful office.
The event will be held at the Venice Community Center, 326 S. Nokomis Ave., Wednesday, Nov. 13, 4-7 p.m. Doors will open to guests at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served from 4:45-5:45 p.m., and the awards ceremony will take place from 5:45-7 p.m.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Adoption programs - parks, ponds, shores, roads and campuses
- Community cleanups
- Land, sea and air preservation
- Community gardens
- The Guy Hudson Award
- The Dorothy Bombera Award
- Youth, school, scouts and clubs
- The Extra Mile Award
- Volunteer of the Year
