UF/IFAS Extension offers Water Quality Seminar Series

The University of Florida/IFAS Extension Charlotte County, through its Florida Sea Grant and Florida Friendly Landscaping programs, are pleased to announce their upcoming program, a Water Quality Seminar Series.

Seminars will be held on February 13, March 13, April 10 and May 8 at the Charlotte County Eastport Environmental Campus, 25550 Harborview Road, Port Charlotte, Florida 33980 from 2-5 p.m. This program is intended for anyone interested in water quality in our fresh and saltwater environments. The cost to attend is $5 per seminar or $15 for all four.

The first seminar (February 13) will focus on "Tracing Nutrient and Petroleum Pollutants in the Water", and will be presented by Dr. Monica Wilson, Gulf Oil Spill Research Extension Specialist, with the University of Florida/IFAS Florida Sea Grant Program; and Dr. Brian Lapointe, Research Professor, Marine Ecosystem Health at Florida Atlantic University.

Other seminars will focus on reuse water (March), harmful algae blooms (April) and restoration/Florida Friendly Landscaping (May).
