Red tide, high bacteria levels affect some Sarasota area beaches

All beaches are open, but there is "No Swim" Advisory for five area beaches.

August 21, 2018: Sarasota County continues to clean county-owned or maintained public beaches in accordance with our beach cleanup policy, and have collected more than 159 tons of red tide debris as of Aug. 23.

In addition, Sarasota County is monitoring the status of area canals. The community is encouraged use the SeeClickFix app to bring potential concerns to our attention.

<> Health officials have issued a red tide advisory for several beaches. A "No Swim" Advisory posted at 5 beaches due to Bacteria Levels.

Beaches affected by Red Tide and high levels of Enteric Bacteria:
"NO SWIM" Advisory for Longboat Key, Lido Casino, Siesta Key Beach, Brohard, and Venice Fishing Pier.
