Red tide continues to plague gulf coast
TAMPA — Four of Florida’s Gulf Coast counties are seeing bloom concentrations of red tide, according to the latest Florida Fish and Wildlife red tide map.
FWC reported that Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier counties were seeing about 100,000 K. brevis, or red tide organisms, cells per liter.
There were high concentrations of red tide in Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties. Pinellas County showed a very low concentration of red tide.
Fish kills have been reported in Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier counties. And, reparatory problems have been reported in Sarasota, Lee, and Collier counties.
The red tide is forecast to move south over the next four days.
