Venice’s Snake Island once again available for boaters

VENICE – Snake Island, the spoil island near the Venice Inlet that’s popular with boaters, is once again available for those who wish to drop anchor and enjoy the newly enhanced parcel.

Justin McBride, executive director of the West Coast Inland Navigation District, said that construction work at the island finished Jan. 26.

“I would not say that it’s ever quote, unquote opened,” McBride said. “It’s available for ancillary recreational use.

“It is not a park, it is not managed as a park, it is a spoil island.”
