Updated monofilament stations installed at South Jetty, Pier

Venice logo

This week, Venice Public Works staff installed updated monofilament recovery and recycling cylinders and signage at two popular fishing locations in the City. Three cylinders were placed at the South Jetty (Humphris Park) and 2 on the Venice Fishing Pier.

Anglers can use the cylinders to dispose of monofilament line or braided line to keep our Venice waterways tangle-free.

The cylinders will be monitored weekly and emptied by Public Works staff. Citizens fishing at these locations are encouraged to utilize the stations and reduce environmental damage.

The cylinders were installed through a partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Monofilament Recovery and Recycling Program. For more information, please visit https://mrrp.myfwc.com/.
